Sorry 2

Presumably, as part of efforts to implement Sorry in a meaningful way, IP Australia has adopted a Reconciliation Action Plan (pdf), which has been officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia...

So far there are 3 key "result areas":

(1) Culturally supportive organisational environment and employment

    Objective:

To improve our understanding of Indigenous culture to enable us to better meet the needs of our customers and to provide employment opportunities so that IP Australia is representative of the community in which we operate.

(2) Community Engagement

To increase the awareness of IP to Indigenous Australians and to engage in capacity building activities for Indigenous communities and/or Indigenous businesses.

(3) Policy development and implementation.

To analyse IP issues of relevance to the Indigenous industry sector, develop appropriate policy and make recommendations as necessary to the Australian Government.

Each of which has a series of more detailed "tasks" and milestones.

Given the circumstances, almost any change is presumably to be welcomed.  Who, however, is going to be responsible for doing something practical like providing Indigenous peoples with access to advice and assistance in their day to day dealings with, say, art agents, bio-prospecting companies and the courts?
